The Paula Rego Story House (2009) is a project designed by Eduardo Souto de Moura. The project builds upon some of the distinguishing aspects of the region’s historical architecture and can be identified immediately against the landscape due to its two identical pyramids in red tinted concrete. The purpose of the building is to promote awareness and access to the works of Paula Rego and her various artistic influences. Paintings, drawings and engravings by this portuguese artist may be found on display, as well as a number of temporary exhibitions.
The Paula Rego House of Stories was awarded the Sécil Prize for Architecture in 2012, an award attributed by the Sécil Cement Group and the Portuguese Association of Architects.
